How We Built a Digital Insurance Platform in 10 Weeks
Most insurance companies in Egypt still run on legacy systems built a decade ago. When Ruh Life Insurance approached us, their agents were juggling paper forms, Excel sheets, and a 15-year-old desktop application that crashed twice a week.
The Challenge
Ruh needed a modern platform that could:
- Handle policy issuance end-to-end without paper
- Integrate with medical underwriting providers
- Support digital signatures and document storage
- Give customers a self-service portal to track their policies
Our Approach
We started with a 2-week discovery phase, interviewing agents, underwriters, and customers. The key insight: the biggest bottleneck wasn't technology — it was workflow. Agents spent 70% of their time on data entry and follow-ups.
We built a web platform with three connected modules:
- Agent Portal: Automated data capture, real-time underwriting checks, and instant policy document generation
- Customer Portal: Policy tracking, premium payments, and claim initiation
- Admin Dashboard: Analytics, agent performance tracking, and regulatory reporting
The Stack
React frontend, Laravel backend, PostgreSQL database, and AWS S3 for document storage. We integrated with a local digital signature provider for legally binding e-signatures.
Results
Policy issuance dropped from 3 days to under 4 hours. Customer onboarding completion improved from 60% to 87%. The platform now processes 500+ policies monthly with zero downtime since launch.
